KEYNOTE
How Small Law Firms are Innovating to Build Better Practices
How are small firms around the country innovating to gain tremendous competitive advantages? Sam Glover is chief editor for the Lawyerist, which is home to the largest online community of solo and small-firm lawyers in the world dedicated to helping lawyers start, manage, and grow successful practices. Sam will show us how and why law firms are developing new legal services, bucking traditional pricing models, and bringing design-thinking to their firms.
Stephanie gets what it takes to run a successful law firm. She knows what you are going through because she has been there, suffered through it, and come out the other side! Now, she uses the skills she learned the hard way to teach attorneys how to build practices that work for them—allowing them to fulfill their vision, enjoy their work and run a successful firm. As a consultant, coach and trainer, she runs B-School for Lawyers and is an Adjunct Professor at Emory University School of Law.
Lori Gonzalez is the President of the The RayNa Corporation – a company designed to assist law firms and solo attorneys with billing, efficiency and office operations. After receiving her paralegal certification in 2002, she worked in several firms filling many roles, including practice management software training and coordination. She is a frequent speaker on law firm management needs. Lori’s adaptability, knowledge of current technology and ability to evaluate systems are what give her the ability to not only work within any system, but to improve it. She spends her free time volunteering to improve access to justice and increase knowledge and use of technology in the legal field.
Melissa Grimes has extensive history in managing, implementing and running small business. She was named the youngest female chief operations officer for a publicly traded company in the early 2000s. While working with legal counsel, Melissa found her new calling and left the company to begin working in in the legal field. She is the Vice-President of The RayNa Corporation and currently attending law school. Melissa’s keen business sense, experience in management and daily business operations, dedication to quality of service and overall willingness to improve any system make her a valuable for any business. In her free time, Melissa enjoys volunteering with learning programs for the legal field and youth groups.Â
The marketing struggle is real. Stop getting the run-around from companies that promise you the moon and deliver you a box of rocks. After running a successful IP law practice, attorneys started to notice and ask Christina Scalera how she did it. Her answer was Ruckusâ„¢-- a platform that empowers attorneys to understand marketing in a strategic way, whether they prefer to DIY or outsource it to others. With a focus on using Pinterest + Instagram as tools to propel your practice forward, Ruckusâ„¢ helps attorneys like you learn how to leverage these 'social media' platforms and turn them into search engines that refer your practice to excited + qualified clients. Stop throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks, and start getting strategic about your marketing on platforms that haven't yet been dominated by other attorneys.
